Apostolic Mentoring
From Religion To Relationship! ... English & German
What if the very habits that look holy are the fig leaves keeping you from God? We open with raw praise and a candid update from a delayed crusade team, then get straight to the question that won’t let us go: are we practicing religion to be seen, or relationship to be known? With Scripture as our compass—James 1:27, Genesis 3, Matthew 7, and John 15—we trace how good works become camouflage when intimacy fades, and how abiding turns duty into delight.
Our guest walks us through the Garden, where shame stitched the first aprons, and shows how we still tailor modern versions: attendance as armor, tithing as identity, titles as cover. We confront the shock of Matthew 7—prophecy, deliverance, and mighty works without being known by Jesus—and name the heart issue as iniquity: self‑will wrapped in religious language. The conversation doesn’t stop at warning. We rebuild on John 15, where fruit flows from union, not hustle, and where prayer becomes the source of life rather than a line item on a list.
We pray fiercely for God to break the neck of religious mentality, to ignite hunger that outlasts pressure, and to pull us back from chasing anointing like a product. The takeaway is practical and freeing: abide first, obey from love, and let ministry be the overflow. If you’ve been exhausted by spiritual performance or tempted to measure health by results, this is a reset rooted in presence. Share it with a friend who needs courage to return to simple devotion.
If this spoke to you, subscribe, leave a review, and pass it on to someone who’s ready to trade fig leaves for a real walk with God. Your story might be the spark that helps another soul choose presence over performance.
We love to hear from our listeners! Thank you!

I hear you, brother. God bless you. Good to see you. Yes, sir. Hallelujah. Ikata la bosata. Imanda la bashondo ramasiki andalaboramasata ya siki. In the name of the Lord. In the name of the Lord. Hallelujah. In the name of Jesus hallelujah. Isata laborama sidi on do loboshakata. Oh thank you, Lord. Hallelujah Maricard. Yanda Lobosataya Sikiondo Loboshata. Hallelujah hallelujah Maricad. Yando Lobo sataya sianda lobacata lobo sataya and a labour seed. In the name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus. Hallelujah, mighty God. Isato lolobosia andalabacata yasi. I praise your mighty name, Lord. Hallelujah, mighty God. Itaya sando loboshata. Praise the name of Jesus. Well, praise the Lord, everybody, and welcome to another great episode of Apostolic Mentoring. I greet you in the name of Jesus from San Francisco. I was supposed to be in Columbus today. But on Sunday night, um, United sent a text message to 24 of our Crusade Team members in Mongolia, notifying us that all of our flights were cancelled and we could not make it home on Monday. And the lady said, Are you serious? So I sent Sister Robinette on home. And one more in Ulambatar. So please be praying for the works in Russia. And uh praying that the Lord will continue to open great doors that no man can shut. He is the ALJC Mississippi Youth President. That there are so many great oneness people, part of many different organizations and independent bodies as well. So I just really love and respect uh Bishop Carpenter. I actually asked him for permission to use Brother Hughes before I did.
SPEAKER_02:It is such an honor to be on the Apostolic Mentoring Podcast today. And I am so grateful for the ministry of Brother Charles Robinet. And I give greetings from the Mississippi District. And 27, 27. And this verse is just a quick introductory verse. The two other main passages we will hit in a little bit, and that's Genesis 3. And Matthew 7. James 1 and 27 says pure religion and undefiled before God. And the Father is this.
SPEAKER_00:It's about being known of men. Sondern von Menschen. And as long as men see you doing good. You pay your dues. You fulfill your religious duty.
SPEAKER_02:Because it can be deceiving. Because on the outside it may look almost the exact same. Both perspectives will cause you to pray. And the other one is absolutely the nature of God.
SPEAKER_00:And the other is absolutely natures. Do you have religion or do you have relationship?
SPEAKER_02:Religion, in the sense that I'm talking about has never been the plan of God. Because it is who he is, he is love. Starting with verse 6, Genesis 3 and 6. And sister interpreter, sister Carolyn, I will be reading one phrase at a time.
SPEAKER_00:Sounds good.
SPEAKER_02:And that it was pleasant to the eyes. And that fruit and ask. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed thig leaves together and made themselves aprons. It is a place for you to hide behind. It was the word cuttaneth. With the works of the flesh. Something was missing.
SPEAKER_00:Versteckt in mitten der Bäume.
SPEAKER_02:Because sin always makes you want to hide from the presence of God. And the voice of the Lord says, Where art thou?
SPEAKER_00:And the Stimme Gottes sagt, Wo bist du? Where are you, Adam? Wo bist du, Adam? You've always been here. You've never missed your prayer time.
SPEAKER_02:You're always anxious to hear from me. This is what religion does to us. This is what iniquity does to us. You're hiding behind the holiness standards and church attendance. You're hiding behind tithe paying and good works. You're hiding behind the structure and things of the church that God truly has ordained. But you're doing so to replace the fact that you lack a genuine relationship with God. It means to require or demand. It's not about a list of rules. It's about seeking him. And if you love him, you'll keep his commandments.
SPEAKER_00:Matthew what? Sorry.
SPEAKER_02:Matthews 7, 21 through 23. Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?
SPEAKER_00:Herr, Herr, haben wir nicht in deinem Namen geweissagt.
SPEAKER_02:And in thy name have cast out devils. Depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Now they were workers of iniquity because they did not the will of the Father. And neglecting the very source of life himself, the Lord Jesus Christ. Yet at the same time, God can say, I never knew you.
SPEAKER_00:These Dinge Gottes werden einfach für dich zu tun sein. But you cannot mistake the fact that God is using you.
SPEAKER_02:Just because God is using us in this end-time hour and He's about to do it.
SPEAKER_00:Nur weil Gott uns in dieser Endzeitstunde benutzt und das wird er tun. Heißt nicht, dass wir eine ehrliche Beziehung zu Gott haben.
SPEAKER_02:And God sent me here to warn his church.
SPEAKER_00:Und Gott hat mich hierher geschickt, um seine Kirche zu warnen.
SPEAKER_02:Make sure you have a relationship with God, not just a religion. Or you will be like these in Matthew 7. Deceived, thinking that everything was alright. And you will be saying, Lord, Lord, have we not? And you can fill in the blank.
SPEAKER_00:And ihr könnt das letzte Wort ausfüllen.
SPEAKER_02:Have we not done all these things? Yes, God will use you to impact this world. But if you lose your relationship with God, you've lost it all. In Jesus' name.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, hallelujah. I uh was sitting here and praying here in the hotel room. The Lord quickened me to John chapter 15.
SPEAKER_00:And the Herr had me to Johannes 15 geleited.
SPEAKER_01:And verse 5. The Bible says, I am the vine and you are the branches. He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit. For without me you can do nothing. But ministries that are born in a relationship of prayer. They chase mantles and they chase anointings and salvungen. But every single one of those things flow organically out of relationships. It's so easy to be mightily used of God. Just have a mighty life of prayer. You don't make you can't make this stuff up. You exhaust yourself chasing something that's given away freely in a relationship. That's why you feel exhausted. That's why you feel frustrated and frustrated. Because you're chasing the product. Just wearing yourself out, chasing a transaction. And all you gotta do is fall in love. Would you do me one more favor, Brother Hughes? You take yourself off mute and just pray for God's global army.
SPEAKER_02:Because if we seek you, all these things will be added to us. Oh yes. A play that an anointing that would destroy every yoke would fall on each and every one of us. Listen. Oh yes. Oh yes. Break the neck of the enemy, destroy the yoke of religious mentality. And I lose a desire and a hunger and a thirst for simply God. Oh yes. It could be a craving in our soul, in our spirit, a desire, a fire, a passion for more and more of you, God. We cannot live without you, Jesus. Oh God, oh God. But you can take everything else. Everything else can go. Everything else can go. I don't care if I never perform a miracle sign or wonder. As long as I have you.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, hallelujah. What a powerful word. Convicting word. A soul-searching word. I pray that you'll share this with many others. You'll pray about this.
SPEAKER_00:And you betet darüber.
SPEAKER_01:Because God is surely calling us into deeper waters. We're out of time, friends. The Lord is coming.
SPEAKER_00:The Herr kommt.
SPEAKER_01:And the revival is fast upon us. Whatever we're going to do for God, we've got to do it right now. Yeah. Deep is calling to deep. Oh, praise God. What a great session today. Oh, praise God. Don't forget tomorrow we have our monthly Apostolic Mentoring Special Edition. It is the uh once a month English only special episode. Same channel, same login, same everything. It'll be live. Tomorrow we're gonna have three amazing guests.
